“After seven years as an assistant, 29-year-old Evie Summers is ready to finally get the promotion she deserves. But now the TV and film agency she’s been running behind the scenes is in trouble, and Evie will lose her job unless she can convince the agency’s biggest and most arrogant client, Ezra Chester, to finish writing the script for a Hollywood romantic comedy.

The catch? Ezra is suffering from writer’s block–and he’ll only put pen to paper if singleton Evie can prove to him that you can fall in love like they do in the movies. With the future of the agency in jeopardy, Evie embarks on a mission to meet a man the way Sally met Harry or Hugh Grant met Julia Roberts.

But in the course of testing out the meet-cute scenes from classic romantic comedies IRL, not only will Evie encounter one humiliating situation after another, but she’ll have to confront the romantic past that soured her on love.” (Goodreads)

Can you believe that this was my first book from this genre?? Well, believe it! And guess what? I absolutely enjoyed it! I only had one minor issue with it but it didn’t take away from me being invested in this rom-com!

Evie is funny, determined, and does what she needs to when it comes to getting the job done. I loved how she decided to try and make things that happen in rom-coms a reality and honestly, it made me laugh quite a lot. Ezra was an interesting character and wasn’t really what I was expecting. There were some cute moments from him and other times I just eye-rolled so hard. My favorite characters were Ben and Anette. Without these two, this wouldn’t have been as good as it was. They really added to the plot and I loved the interactions between them and Evie. They were literally my favorite scenes!

The chapters have a unique beginning as there is always a part that reads like a script. I loved the added bonus of this since it plays into the plot so well. I also found myself enjoying the emails between Evie and Ezra. They were cute and funny. It also wouldn’t be a great rom-com without your friends guiding you through and the texts between Evie and her friends was another bonus!

The plot was hilarious, cute, and investing. It was hard to put it down when it came to bed and I found myself just thinking about when I would be able to pick it up again. Although some of the plot twists were obvious, I didn’t mind. I love a good cheesy rom-com and this one definitely hit that spot!

Overall, it was a great read! If you are a fan of rom-coms or just want a feel-good read then do yourself a favor and check this one out!
