Dreamy & Co Unboxing: Catalyst And Chaos

Bookishunboxing2

Hello Readers!

I am here with another unboxing. The October 2019 theme was called “Catalyst and Chaos”. It was themed around The Illuminae Files. Dreamy & Co is the same owner that runs Flick the Wick. This box is just smaller and only costs around $25 shipped. I have never been disappointed because the artwork is always amazing.

My favorite item was the art print of the characters. I have collected every piece I can of them because they are some of my favorite characters! Definitely one of my top book series.

My least favorite item was the socks. The design is great but I just don’t like getting socks in boxes. Sometimes they just end up fitting weird.

Top Ten Tuesday: Book Characters I Need More Of

top ten

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

Today’s prompt was Character Freebie, which means I’m in charge now! Oh boy…Well, it did take me a bit to come up with this topic but I am pretty pleased with it. I will be talking about characters that I just need more of! Ones that I want to keep reading about. So, here I go!

1.) Jacks the Prince of Hearts (Caraval series)

Can I write any character list without mentioning him? I don’t think so! But really, I felt that after his plot was done in Finale he just left. I want to know how he is coping, what he is doing. Did he get his happy ending eventually? So many questions and no answers!

2.) Ella Malikov (The Illuminae Files)

She was hilarious and the first character I ever read about that had a disability. She didn’t let that stop her at all either. She was a minor character but did have major roles when it came to saving people. I wanted to read more about her because she was just a great character overall.

3.) Azriel (A Court of Thorns and Roses)

He has always been one of my favorite characters in this series. He is quiet but will you kill you if you mess with his friends. I’d like to think that me and him are a lot alike, haha. I hope we get more from him in the next book.

4.) Lucien (A Court of Thorns and Roses)

Yes, another one from the same series. I know, I know, but I love it and I am due for a reread. I liked him from the beginning and throughout the series he goes through a lot. He was a character I just felt bad for and I hope he gets a happy ending even if its not with Elain.

5.) Fiske (A Sky in the Deep)

I don’t have many reasons for this one. I just like him and loved reading about him so I just need more!

6.) Agnieszka (Uprooted)

I was sad when the book end and realized it was a standalone. I loved reading about her and the Dragon. I still have so many questions!

7.) Queen Marguerite (Four Dead Queens)

I have a love/hate with standalones. I like that I don’t have to continue on but it always leaves me wanting more. This book was no exception. This was my favorite queen out of all of them and I would love to know how everything is going after the mayhem!

8.) Kateri (Tiger Queen)

Here is another standalone I need more from! I can’t say much about this one because it isn’t out yet but you should definitely pick it up!

9.) Nathaniel (Sorcery of Thorns)

He is such a fantastic character who is full of some funny banter. I will keep this spoiler free since it just came out.

10.) Silas (Sorcery of Thorns)

Oops, I did it again! I picked another from the same book. But seriously, he is amazing! The ending was intense and I just need more Silas!

There you have it, bookworms! Book characters that I just need more of to satisfy my questions and love for them. If you haven’t picked up any of these books, go do it! All of these are ones I would highly recommend.

Book Gizmo Unboxing

Hello!

Today I am sharing the May box from Book Gizmo. It was my first purchase with them and I was really happy with it.

Book Gizmo sells booksleeves, bookbands, and has a monthly box. I haven’t tried out their bookbands yet but their booksleeves are great quality.

The May box was themed around Sci-fi’s like The Illuminae Files and Aurora Rising. There was one item in it for Red Rising, one book that I haven’t read. They are priced at $25.00 and I believe shipping was around $3-$4. So really, you get a lot for that price! I would definitely buy from them again.

Friday Favorites: Fictional Criminals

Book Tag

Hello, fellow book lovers!

Today’s post is a tag that was created by Something of the Book and she has a whole list of Friday Favorites to follow.

The prompt for today is all about fictional criminals. Whether they are ones we love to hate or the ones we love to love. Fictional criminals add to any plot and we can never get enough!

So, here is my list of criminals:

29236299

1.) Nik Malikov (The Illuminae Files)
When it came to reading Gemina, I was sad at first because it was a cast of new characters and I had already bonded with Kady and Ezra but I am glad I moved on. It introduced me to a bad boy named Nik and my life will never be the same because of it. I mean, who doesn’t love a bad boy with tatts who is also doing illegal things on a spaceship with cows? Gemina is my absolute favorite out of the series and Nik is one of the reasons why!

23437156

2.) Kaz Brekker and the crew (Six of Crows)
They are an interesting group of characters that come from different backgrounds. Kez is much more higher on the criminal mind side than the rest but they will do anything to keep him out of harms way. I need to hop back into their world and read Crooked Kingdom soon!

403174833.) Keralie Corrington (Four Dead Queens)
When it came to this book, I wasn’t sure if it would be for me. But, I got swept in quickly and was introduced to a thief named Keralie. She was an interesting character and even though at times she was on the wrong side of the law, she still tried to solve the mystery of the dead queens.

4.) Sirius Black (Harry Potter series)
Even though he wasn’t bad, he was still in jail so that makes him a criminal, right? Seriously though, my love for Sirius knows no bounds. He is definitely my favorite character from the Wizarding World and his death was the worse thing to experience. My heart is so heavy just writing this.

326674585.) Asha & Torwin (The Last Namsara)
I won’t give anything away if you haven’t read this series. I highly recommend that you do! But, for certain reasons they become on the run from the law. I loved getting to know them throughout the book even if they weren’t always bad.

Clearly from my list I don’t like inherently bad criminals, haha. I really need to read books with more bad criminals and see if I like them. If you have any recommendations of books with inherently bad criminals that melt your heart, let me know in the comments below!

Top Ten Tuesday: What I Love In An Audio Book (Audio Freebie)

TTT-NEW

Hello, fellow book lovers!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

Today’s prompt is whatever we want when it comes to audio! I have decided to talk about audio books since that is my go-to audio. I don’t listen to too many audio books but I do have a couple I like and I know what I like in an audio book. So here is my list of what I like in an audio book:

1.) Full Cast
I love full cast audio books! It literally adds so much and I think it makes the characters easier to feel connected too.

2.) Accents
If a character is from England or somewhere else in the world, I love getting that vibe through their voice.

3.) Emotions
Sometimes it’s hard to understand the emotion when it can’t be heard. I like to be able to hear it in the voice of the character.

4.) Sounds
Sounds for a ship taking off, water leaking, etc. Those are great in an audio book because it makes it more of the old time radio shows!

5.) Background music
When the music matches the vibe in a serious matter or people are dancing. It adds a whole new effect!

The audio books I always recommend are The Illuminae Files and I Capture The Castle (BBC Version). Both are a full cast and super great! They have everything on my list and you should definitely check them out!
