Down the TBR Hole #7

bookishtopics

Hello, fellow book lovers!

We are back again for another Down the TBR Hole which was created by Lost in a story and I am so excited to do it!

We have all been there, or are still there, where our tbr is bigger than we had imagined. I’m always adding new books and then reading books that aren’t even on my tbr but are books that I happen to see at the library. It’s a never ending cycle and this was created to help with the chaos!

Here is how it works:

  • Head to your Goodreads to-read shelf
  • Order on ascending date added
  • Take the first 5 or how many you’d like to do
  • Read the Synopsis of each book
  • Decide to keep it or remove it

Hopefully I will be able to get rid of a few so here we go!

This book, although a classic, just isn’t for me. I know that I will never get to it.

Verdict: Remove

Honestly, I haven’t thought about this book so that means its going to go.

32972153.jpgThe first book is Secondborn by Amy A. Bartol. It is a dystopian which I am not a huge fan and although the synopsis sounds okay I don’t think it would be a read I would enjoy.

Verdict: Remove

16061083The second book is Sworn to Raise by Terah Edun. I think with this one I was looking at Amazon and stumbled upon it because it was free. Reading through some reviews, I don’t see it being one that I like and if I haven’t thought about it since I added it I don’t think I ever would actually read it.

Verdict: Remove

12954620The third book is Falling Kingdom by Morgan Rhodes. Now this is one that I bought last year and now it sits on my shelf. I have heard mixed reviews about this series but I have made it a goal to read what is on my shelves so this is one that I will get to this year!

Verdict: Keep

28374007The fourth book is Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake. This is another book I want to get to this year! I have seen a lot of talk about it recently and am wanting to dive in. (I have since read this and didn’t like it that much but the series got better as the books went on!)

Verdict: Keep

40642172The fifth book is This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab. I loved her book City of Ghosts and have heard nothing but great things about her writing. I have this book sitting on my shelf and want to get to it this year.

Verdict: Keep

Have you read of any these books? Did you enjoy them? Let me know!

Down the TBR Hole #2

Hello, fellow book lovers!

We are back again for another Down the TBR Hole which was created by Lost in a story and I am so excited to do it!

We have all been there, or are still there, where our tbr is bigger than we had imagined. I’m always adding new books and then reading books that aren’t even on my tbr but are books that I happen to see at the library. It’s a never ending cycle and this was created to help with the chaos!

  • Head to your Goodreads to-read shelf
  • Order on ascending date added
  • Take the first 5 or how many you’d like to do
  • Read the Synopsis of each book
  • Decide to keep it or remove it

Hopefully I will be able to get rid of a few so here we go!

The first book is The Death and Life of the Great Lakes by Dan Egan. Even though I added this in early 2018 I don’t remember doing it and since I haven’t even thought about it since then I am not sure what it is still doing on my tbr.

Verdict: Remove

The second book is The Case Against Sugar by Gary Taubes. I had been interested by the effects of sugar and read a few books about it. I haven’t thought about it lately and so I doubt I would pick this up.

Verdict: Remove

The third book is Cannibalism: A Perfectly Natural History by Bill Schutt. I really don’t remember adding this or even why I would add it in the first place, haha.

Verdict: Remove

The fourth book is The Nature Fix: Why Nature Makes Us Happier, Healthier, and More Creative by Florence Williams. Again, not sure why it is on my tbr and although I do love nature this just doesn’t interest me.

Verdict: Remove

The last book is Hit Makers: The Science of Popularity in an Age of Distraction by Derek Thompson. This isn’t a topic I care about and like the last ones. I don’t remember why it was on my tbr.

Verdict: Remove

Well, this time I kept none because they were all non-fiction and on topics I don’t care about so at least I made my tbr a little smaller!

Down the TBR Hole #1

Hello, fellow book lovers!

Today I will be going Down the TBR Hole which was created by Lost in a story and I am so excited to do it!

The first book is We Were Feminists Once by Andi Zeisler. To be honest, I don’t even remember adding this but then again it was added in 2016 and if I haven’t read it yet I don’t think I will ever read.

Verdict: Remove

The second book is Private Lies by Cynthia St. Aubin. Again, I don’t remember adding this and it has been sitting on my to-read shelf for quite some time. I am not much of a mystery reader so it is probably one I would not read.

Verdict: Remove

The third book is Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them by JK Rowling. I loved them film of this and that’s probably why I added it to my to-read shelf. I would definitely like to get to this at some point!

Verdict: Keep

The fourth book is Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. Mythology is something I love to read about and when I saw this book I knew I needed to read it. It still interests me.

Verdict: Keep

The fifth book is Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. Again, I don’t remember adding this one and books like this aren’t really my thing currently. I’d rather read fantasy than contemporary.

Verdict: Remove

I kept two out of five books! I would say that this was a success and I will definitely be doing it again next week because some of the books that followed these are ones I don’t feel like reading anymore.

Have you done this before? Do you still continue to do it?
