Weekly Update | 11-20-22

Hello Lovely Bookworms!

This week was busy! I had a doctor appointment in a new city and with a new doctor. Hopefully they can solve my problem but also, insurance sucks and I hate dealing with it lol.

I haven’t read much either this month and it’s probably just because I have so much going on and it is getting closer to the holidays!

This week will at least be slower, hopefully.

  • Happy People Are Annoying by Josh Peck (🎧) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Pumpkin Spice and Not So Nice by Becky Monson ⭐⭐
  • Curse of Shadows (Amassia #2) by A.K. Wilder (arc) ⭐⭐⭐

Hello, My Lovely Bookworms!

This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and is now hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.

It consists of answering these three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

My audiobook is Dark Room Etiquette by Robin Roe. It has started off pretty slow so we shall see how it goes. I’ve heard it can be real emotional at the end, haha.

Currently, I started Curse of Shadows (Amassia #2) by A.K. Wilder. It is an arc but right now I am just not in a fantasy mood….I just want to read romance all day! It’s also been slow going so it’s hard to get into and the characters are kind of meh compared to book one.

I am going to start reading Pumpkin Spice and Not So Nice by Becky Monson. I’ll read it to fix the romance need!

  • Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Happy People Are Annoying by Josh Peck (🎧) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I will be listening to House of Yesterday by Deeba Zargarpur. It’s an arc from Netgalley and I am looking forward to it.

My next couple of books will be If the Broom Fits by Sarah Sutton and Well Traveled by Jen DeLuca.

It consists of answering these three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

My audiobook is Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett, but really I am just letting my Kindle read it to me haha. I ran out of audiobooks to listen to and this one was voice over optional so I figured why not.

I will be starting Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley. I borrowed it from the library last week and definitely need to get to it.

  • Nowhere Better Than Here by Sarah Guillory (🎧) ⭐⭐⭐

I will be listening to Happy People Are Annoying by Josh Peck. On to another biography from a celebrity! I didn’t even know he wrote a book until today, ha.

My next couple of books will be The Marriage Jinx by Krista Noorman and Curse of Shadows by A.K. Wilder.

First Lines Friday | 11-4-22

Hello Lovely Readers!

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

“Jenna Peterson’s Guide to Dating Emotionally Unavailable Men:
When dating an emotionally unavailable man, get ready for disappointment. Because there’s going to be a lot of it.”

The book is….

“If I were ever to write a memoir, it would be titled, Jenna Peterson’s Guide to Dating Emotionally Unavailable Men. I’m like a professional at it. I’m so good, I can take any dysfunctional man and turn him into Prince Charming, just in time for him to dump me and then go on to marry the next woman he dates. I’m about ready to give up on loving real men and focus on lusting over fictional men in the Turkish dramas I can’t stop devouring.

But then . . . I find a mysterious fifty-dollar bill with a handwritten note on it that was donated to my family’s pumpkin patch by accident. And wouldn’t you know it, the mystery man it belongs to is emotionally unavailable, albeit freakishly attractive. I keep telling myself to walk away, but there’s something about Aidan St. Claire that makes me want to unravel all his secrets. All I know is he sure can heat up the cozy fall nights. I can’t help but think that maybe this time I’ll get to keep Prince Charming for myself.” (Goodreads)

Weekly Update |10-30-22

Hello Lovely Bookworms!

This week was pretty slow but also felt like it went by fast. Yesterday we went to get pizza since it’s what we usually do as a family around Halloween. It’s a holiday we don’t celebrate and so we do something together so my daughter doesn’t feel like she is being left out of something. It’s now going on as a 6 year tradition, haha.

We went to the library and I picked up some books as well. They have been two I have been eyeing so we will see if I like them!

No reading has been had this weekend but with 40 books under my belt for the month (manga included) I don’t feel bad, lol.

I hope you all have been having a great weekend! Enjoy the photos of my pumpkin and an amradillo!

Weekly Update | 10-23-22

Hello Lovely Bookworms!

This week has been pretty busy but we got to see family yesterday so that was nice! We also ate a lot because one side took us out for breakfast and the other for lunch, ha. I won’t complain though because free food!

I haven’t read anything over the weekend but that usually happens and it’s nice to get to spend time with people. Plus, I had to go admire the chickens as it was so nice outside! I even have them carving my pumpkin for me.

Other than that, everything is about the same.

I hope you all have been enjoying your weekend!
