What DNF Means to Me

Hello, fellow book lovers!

I wanted to take a minute and talk about DNFing. I have seen others talk about it and I think it is a good topic to discuss because everyones opinion of it is different!

In 2018, I only had to dnf four books. I’d say that is pretty good. This year I have yet to dnf any, not because I haven’t wanted to, but I have a hard time doing it.

One reason I don’t like to dnf is because sometimes books get better halfway through. Another reason is if I am already halfway through I have already spent time on it and would like to see it through to add to my books read even if it doesn’t get better.

I honestly should dnf more but for those two reasons it is hard!

How do you feel about dnfing a book?

How I Rate Books

how i rate books

Hello, fellow book lovers!

I have seen a lot of people on here and Instagram talking about how they rate books. So basically, what their star rating means. I think it is a great idea and have decided to do the same. Hopefully this will help when it comes to my reviews.

5 Stars:
A five star rating is a book that invoked some form of emotion for me. I have to really connect with the characters and love the plot. It also has to be a book that I will continually recommend and also talk about it because it left such a good impression.

4 stars:
A four star rating is a book that I liked but didn’t love. It is one I would still recommend and talk about but not as much as a five star. I liked the characters and the plot but one or the other was lacking a bit.

3 stars:
A three star rating is a book that was decent but it is one that won’t stick with me. I don’t know if I would continue the series. I either liked the plot or the characters but never both. There were interesting plot twists but not enough to make me like it. It is one I most likely won’t talk about unless asked.

2 stars:
A two star rating is a book that really wasn’t for me. It lacked in a lot of areas when it came to the plot and characters. I didn’t connect with either. It was too slow paced. I would not recommend it and won’t think about it again.

1 stars:
A one star rating is a book that was just bad in my opinion. I really disliked the characters and the plot. There were too many issues with the plot and the characters were under-developed. I would not recommend it and won’t give it another thought.

About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog!

Usually when I write reviews I tend to post them on Goodreads and Instagram. After a few people have commented on the fact that I should blog, I decided to give it a try and post the same book reviews on here as well as other book related posts.

Anyways, let’s talk a little about me:

I am originally from Minnesota but am now residing in Indiana. I miss the colder months of the Midwestern weather and dread the warmer months in Indiana. I assume that makes me a true Minnesotan! I am married and have a lovely two year old daughter. We share our home with two cats and a dog who has a striking resemblance to Scooby-Doo.

I am an avid reader and have started to read more since joining the bookstagram community on Instagram. It has been great to get to know fellow book lovers and share our passion for reading with one another!

Hopefully this blog will help you when choosing your next read.

Happy Reading!
