First Lines Friday | 11/19/21

Hello Lovely Readers!

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

“They rode for hours, through the night and into the dawn, stopping for nothing, not even to rest the horses. They knew what hunted them. A threat that could neither be seen nor heard nor felt, until one turned around and there it was. Too late to run then. Plague was spread through the air, you see. Everyone knew this.”

I just finished this one last night (stayed up past my bedtime to do it!) and knew I had to share the first lines today. This has been the highest rated book for me this month. It’s just so good and the writing is amazing!

Have you read this book? Do you want to read it?

    1. Thank you! It was really good from beginning to end. I was actually surprised with how much I had liked it, haha.
