“Princess Winter is admired for her grace, kindness and beauty, despite the scars on her face. She’s said to be even more breath-taking than her stepmother, Queen Levana…
When Winter develops feelings for the handsome palace guard, Jacin, she fears the evil Queen will crush their romance before it has a chance to begin.
But there are stirrings against the Queen across the land. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even find the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter claim their happily ever afters by defeating Levana once and for all?” (Goodreads)
I would say that out of all four books this was my favorite. I don’t think I really had any issues with it, maybe just a couple minor ones.
All the characters are back and the action is super packed! I mean I would hope so since this one was over 20 hours long as an audiobook. It’s taken me awhile to get through this bad boy.
There are a lot of moving pieces and the group being split a part to different areas but always finding their way back to one another. I do enjoy that they have such great relationships between one another and they all found it by having a common enemy. Evil always has a way of bringing people together!
Out of the group, I liked Winter the best. She was weird but also didn’t want to use her magic against anyone because she didn’t want to take their free will away. I respect that. I also enjoyed her relationship with Jacin because they have been friends for a long awhile. It was like the other relationships where it seemed they started having big feelings right away which I’m just not a fan of. I did like however that their relationships grow throughout the series.
I didn’t really care about Levana though. I mean some villains are really great but she just annoyed me, haha. I have seen that there is a novella about her but I just don’t like her enough to understand her background more.
I would say that there were great plot twists throughout. I don’t think that it was ever slow even for a big book! I was impressed by that.
Overall, I liked this quite a bit. I’m happy I stuck with this series even if the first two books were meh for me.
Great review! This was definitely a long ass read and I enjoyed it but I also found I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other books in the series? I don’t know. I did love Winter though and I did love how much action there was in this book π But Jacin never really grew on me lol and I also just wanted to b-slap Levana so hard π Just BYE, ain’t nobody got time for you haha
